A large, multi-space venue in central Whanganui.
The Whanganui War Memorial Centre is one of the finest examples of New Zealand modernist architecture, rating in the top 1000 'modernistic' buildings in the world, and the top 50 in the Southern Hemisphere.
It is a flexible, multi-space venue designed to support a wide range of events within a single, connected site. At its centre is the Main Hall, a large open-plan space suited to high-capacity events such as exhibitions, performances and headline talks, with the flexibility to adapt to different layouts and staging requirements. The Concert Chamber offers a more focused, acoustically considered environment with tiered seating, ideal for talks, screenings and panel discussions where clarity and audience connection are key.
For smaller-scale and interactive sessions, the Pioneer Room provides a light-filled, adaptable space suited to workshops and breakout sessions. Extending beyond the building, the Forecourt offers an outdoor space well suited to arrivals, activations and informal gatherings, supporting a mix of indoor and outdoor programming across the venue.
