For Dr Emma Bugden, Festival Programme Co-director, design is visible in public space, galleries, studios, heritage, systems and everyday encounters.
For me, it’s a place where you can get small town living, but packed full of all the things I enjoyed in big cities.
There’s galleries, there’s museums, there’s culture. There’s a really active, creative community, and that’s really important to me. And that’s what Whanganui gives us.
It’s filled with street art, cafes, bars. A normal Saturday, we go to the market and then we go to Article for a coffee.
I authentically and genuinely believe it’s a place everybody should come to.
