This exhibition honours the collective effort behind creating and sustaining these gardens as a loved community asset.
In 1966, the land that the Bason Botanic Gardens sits on was gifted to the Whanganui District Council by Stanley and Blanche Bason. Since then, multiple organisations, designers and artists have contributed to the look and layout of the gardens.
This exhibition will be a display of newly discovered and archival material, all brought together in one place. A public space such as the Bason Botanic Gardens is the product of multiple people. This exhibition is an attempt to honour the collective work that has gone into making these gardens such a well-loved community asset.
